The Glasgow Story
Helen Macfarlane
- Biography of Helen Macfarlane
- Macfarlane translated the famous first lines of the Communist Manifesto as: “A frightful hobgoblin stalks through Europe. We are haunted by a ghost, the ghost of Communism.” Check out the rest of the first few paragraphs here. The whole thing is unfortunately behind an academic paywall, but if you would like to see the whole translation perhaps drop your friendly neighbourhood radical tour guides a line and we will see what we can do.
